I didn't know there were caves on Mount Lemon?
Apparently there is a Pepper Sauce Cave on the north side of Mount Lemmon. Teen rescued after falling in Arizona's Mount Lemmon cave Nov. 14, 2011 07:00 AM Associated Press FLORENCE -- A group of citizens rescued a teenage boy who fell and severely injured his leg deep inside a cave on Mount Lemmon. The Pinal County Sheriff's Office says the 14-year-old fell when he was about 50 feet inside Pepper Sauce Cave on the north side of the mountain. The sheriff's office says as they were responding Saturday afternoon, a group of local citizens fashioned a splint for the boy's leg and used a plastic picnic table as a stretcher to carry him from the cave. They used a tarp to secure him to the table. The rescuers carried the boy from the cave and down to a trailhead, where they were met by deputies and an emergency medical services team. The boy was flown to a hospital. |
