Congressmen earn $1,600 a day for the 109 days they work!

According to this letter to the editor our well paid government masters in Congress only work 109 days a year for their $174,000 salaries. They make a measly $1,600 a day for micromanaging our lives and stealing our money. Whoever said crime doesn't pay was wrong!!!

Well-paid Congress will be well-rested

Oct. 31, 2011 12:00 AM

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor recently released the scheduled number of workdays for Congress in 2012. Would you believe 109 days?

Why are we paying them an annual salary of $174,000? They can't even get anything done in the short time they are at work now - if you can call it work.

What is even more disturbing is that after five years of vested service, members of Congress receive retirement and health benefits for the rest of their lives.

I would like to know what jobs start at that kind of money elsewhere even with a degree. Not too many, but I bet they work more than 109 days a year and do not receive full retirement benefits after five years. It's so nice that Congress can vote in their own raises and benefits. Imagine if we all could do that.
