Government publications can't be copyrighted?

  Source

In the numbers section of an October 2011 issue of the E-College Times they had a short blurb about a Pentagon website that cost $487,369. The web site has something to do with the America’s POW prison in Guantanamo Cuba.

It went on to say that a Yale Law School teacher sued the web cite saying that they could not copyright the material because of an 1895 statute which says the government cannot copyright it’s own publications.

Apparently the Yale Law professor won his lawsuit because the web site removed the copyright statements from their web pages.
