What a great way to convince the serfs that live in a police state that they have rights - Have a "Bill of Rights" monument!
The "Drug War" pretty much has flushed the Bill of Rights down the toilet and turned Amerika into a police state. And of course the "War on Terror" really drove the final nail into the coffin of turning America into a police state. But hey, even if America and Arizona is a police state the politicians still want us to think we have rights. Arizona to have 1st Bill of Rights monument by Ginger Rough - Dec. 10, 2011 08:44 PM The Arizona Republic Arizona will soon be the first state in the nation to have a monument dedicated to the Bill of Rights. Last month, the Capitol Mall Commission approved the design and site location for the new memorial. Kincannon Studios, an Austin, Texas-based design firm, will build the monument at Wesley Bolin Plaza, near 17th Avenue and Washington Street at the Arizona State Capitol. "This is one of the most important documents in human history, not just American history," said Chris Bliss, executive director of MyBillofRights.org, the non-profit group behind the project. "And yet, there is no major monument anywhere in the country dedicated to it." Bliss, who lives in the Valley, eventually hopes to have similar monuments in all 50 states. The Arizona Bill of Rights Monument will feature 10 carved limestone monoliths, each about 7 to 8 feet in height. Each of the monoliths will have the text of one of the first amendments to the U.S Constitution sandblasted into the stone. The monument's design calls for the rocks to be arranged about two feet apart, in an arc. Bliss said private funds will pay for the project, which carries a price tag of about $400,000. The group is still raising funds for the monument's construction. That's what they always say when they start these projects, which frequently end up being paid for with government funds. The new monument is six years in the making.
Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Phoenix,
first sponsored legislation to build the memorial during the 2006 legislative
session Eventually all 90 lawmakers signed on as sponsors of the bill.
Of course Kyrsten Sinema should be the one to do this.
Kyrsten Sinema is the biggest supporter of the police state
in the Arizona Legislator, while she pretending to be a freedom fighter.
Kyrsten Sinema routinely goes after the police to get campaign funds to
help her get reelected.
And she passes laws to support the police in exchange for those
Bigger hurdles remained, however, most notably finding an ideal location for the monument. Bliss and the Capitol Mall Commission eventually agreed on a hilltop site at the plaza. Organizers have tentatively slated the dedication for December 2012. |
