Homeless folks being murdered in Orange County

Llena Sjööblom test image
Lena Söderberg appeared as a Playmate in the November 1972 issue of Playboy magazine, under the name Lenna Sjööblom. Lenna is the spelling in Playboy, Lena is the Swedish spelling of the name.
But this story isn't about dirty photos or hot woman in Playboy, it's about computer geeks and the history of digital photos.
Lenna or Lena is the name given to a 512 x 512 pixel standard test image originally cropped from the centerfold of November 1972 issue of Playboy magazine. The image is probably the most widely used test image for all sorts of image processing algorithms (such as compression and denoising) and related scientific publications.
Alexander Sawchuk estimates that it was in June or July of 1973 when he, then an assistant professor of electrical engineering at the University of Southern California Signal and Image Processing Institute (SIPI), along with a graduate student and the SIPI lab manager, was hurriedly searching the lab for a good image to scan for a colleague's conference paper. They got tired of their stock of usual test images, dull stuff dating back to television standards work in the early 1960s. They wanted something glossy to ensure good output dynamic range, and they wanted a human face. Just then, somebody happened to walk in with a recent issue of Playboy.
The engineers tore away the top third of the centerfold so they could wrap it around the drum of their Muirhead wirephoto scanner, which they had outfitted with analog-to-digital converters (one each for the red, green, and blue channels) and a Hewlett Packard 2100 minicomputer. The Muirhead had a fixed resolution of 100 lines per inch and the engineers wanted a 512 × 512 image, so they limited the scan to the top 5.12 inches of the picture, effectively cropping it at the subject's shoulders.
This scan, nonetheless, became one of the most used images in computer history, so much that the mysterious Lenna came to be dubbed the "First Lady of the Internet".
Lenna is so widely accepted in the image processing community that Söderberg was a guest at the 50th annual Conference of the Society for Imaging Science and Technology in 1997.
When the IS&T wanted to invite Söderberg to their meeting, Playboy helped track down the Swedish native in Stockholm, where she helps handicapped people work on computers. Although Playboy is notorious for cracking down on illegal uses of its images, it has decided to overlook the widespread distribution of this particular centerfold.
Says Eileen Kent, VP of new media at Playboy: "We decided we should exploit this, because it is a phenomenon."
Coincidentally, Playboy states the issue was its best-selling issue ever, having sold 7,161,561 copies as of May 2006.

A 62-year-old Chicago man was critically injured Monday when two 70-pound pit bull terriers mauled him while he was jogging along Lake Michigan, police said.
Police officers found the dogs a short distance away from the site of the attack and fatally shot the animals as they attempted to attack them, department spokesman Officer Robert Perez said. Neither officer was injured, he said.
Perez said the attack happened on a path in Rainbow Beach Park on the city's far South Side at about 6 a.m. He said the dogs, one chocolate brown and other white with spots, bit the man over his entire body, including his legs, arms and face.
One area resident said she and her husband ran outside, as another resident called 911 to help the man after hearing and seeing the attack from their window.
"He was yelling, `Somebody help me, please help me,'" said Debra Plummer. When Plummer's husband, Stanley Lee, ran to the scene and started beating the dogs with a large stick, the dogs would not let go of the man.
"One had the man by his arm and the other had him by his leg and they just had a lock on him (and) they wouldn't let him go," she said. "I couldn't believe what I was looking at."
Ultimately, she said, police pulled their guns and shot the dogs multiple times.
"They had to open fire," she said.
She said one indication of how powerful the dogs were was what happened after they were shot: One ran across a path before it fell and another ran in circles for what seemed like minutes before it, too, finally fell to the ground.
The man was rushed to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where a hospital spokeswoman said late Monday morning he remained in critical condition. Police have not released his name.
Perez said officers had not identified the owner or owners of the animals, saying that while the dogs both had collars, neither had tags. He said animal control officers were dispatched to the scene to take the carcasses away.
The dogs were large, heavily muscled male pit bulls. Neither had identification microchips embedded in them and neither had been neutered, according to Cherie Travis, executive director of the city's department of animal care and control. She said the dogs wore identical collars, suggesting they could be owned by the same person.
She said her employees were scouring records to see if there have been any complaints about dogs or reports of any strays in the area.
Perez said officers were canvassing the area in the search of the owners. And Travis said her office was assisting with the search. She said that the owner or owners may face criminal charges, explaining that while the fine for not keeping a dog in a fenced in area or allowing it to run outside without a leash is $300, the owner of an animal that causes serious injury to a person can be fined as much as $10,000 and locked up for as long as six months.
Travis also said part of her office's investigation will be to determine how the dogs were cared for, explaining that dogs do not typically attack people, and when they do it is often after they have been mistreated.
"Dogs don't just attack," she said.

Pretending to cut military spending

Friday, December 16, 2:27 - Falsely Arrested - Again
Today I was falsely arrested by a rentacop at the Tempe bus station. Here are the nitty gritty details about that false arrest by Tempe Transit Center RentACop BroylesI was only arrested for 60 seconds, but that is enough for me to file a lawsuit against the city of Tempe, Valley Metro, the company that rents Tempe the rentacop, and the cop who arrested me, along with the bus driver who ordered me to be arrested.
I got on one of those free buses and the lady driver told the cop to remove me from the bus.
The cop who removed me from the bus told me I could not ride on the bus because I had a deadly weapon, and lied and said that deadly weapons were prohibited on Valley Metro buses.
The piggie claims a baseball bat I had was a deadly weapon.
When I told the piggie that Valley Metro doesn't prohibit weapons on it's buses he changed his story and said that drivers could refuse to let anybody ride on their buses for any reason.
Oddly I was arrested when the drivers were changing shifts.
The new bus driver said he didn't care if I rode on his bus and let me back on the bus.
Of course that means the piggy was lying about the deadly weapons stuff. And it should look interesting in court.

I'm being followed around
I suspect the government is having civilians follow me around. That way if they arrest me they I can't complain that I was illegally searched violating my 4th Amendment right, or that I was forced to answer questions violating my 5th Amendment rights.The courts have routinely ruled that when the police get civilians to violated a persons constitutional rights that some how it is OK, because the cops didn't actually do the violation. Even though the cops asked the civilians to violate the persons constitutional rights.
It's pretty much like they are doing in the current "war on terror".
The FBI arrests some Arab or Muslim guy they think is a criminal. But they don't have a shred of evidence to convict the guy with.
So they fly the guy to Egypt, Syria or some other third world country where they have the local cops beat the sh*t out of the guy and get him to confess to whatever the FBI has accused him of.
Then of course after they have coerced a confession out of the guy, they fly him back to the USA and put him on trial.
Then in the USA the courts up hold the confession the FBI got out of the guy by having some pigs in a 3rd world country beat him up.
If the guy claims the confession was illegally coerced the FBI says, we didn't force the guy to confess, it was the Egyptian Secret Police who questioned him and got the confession.
We are just using that confession in good faith.
And sadly the courts allow the insanity to happen.
On Sunday I will become homeless again. I guess that is a good way to ditch these folks the government is having follow me around.

I went on a job interview on 48th Street, half way between Ray Road and Chandler Blvd in Ahwatukee.It was a pretty interesting area.
I should check out the area along Chandler Blvd and Ray Road from 48th Street all the way to maybe 7th Street.
Lots of good places that are not government land where a homeless person could sleep.
